what are the best colossus colour combos for the wax/liquid and bases

A Colossus should be able to run great once set for many weeks without touching the Dimmer. However quite a few Dimmers had problems and if you took it back to that marked setting on the rear the flow would change because of the Dimmers.

Something to remember about the first Colossus. They were made with a harder wax in 01-13-07 with only 1 large coil with Batch# 03. Later on LL made the wax softer and on quite a few added a second coil just like they did to the Grandes of that time frame causing fast over heating.

Looks like the lamps have that 90 day warrenty so if anyone has problems contact LL within this time. The 1st batch from 2007 was a great run they did however change the formula later on and the Lava began not to stick to part of the coil also the dimmers had inner shorts that would start to blow the bulbs as you turned the knob. Even after the dimmer was lowered and the lava was on the coil as the lamp became hot again the lava would lift of the coil and you would see bright light shining thru on the inner vase. These were the 2 main problems with this lamp as time went on.

I have always wondered what would LL do with the many returns they had from all of there customers at the time. When they ended the Colossus they had no more globes to send out for buyers like myself. I spoke to them at the time and found out thru my contact that there warehouse had over 50 returns on bad running globes with bad coils to cloudy globes to lava sticking to the inner globes. I hope that LL does not try to redo the Colossus and make a fast $$$ on them . They should refill what they have and add a 90 day warrenty for them. At the time they stopped making the globe and only had a few tables and base's left. I believe LL will be doing a recondition on the last remaining Colossus lamps they have left from there returns and I hope they stand behind this product not like they did last time as they ran out and could no longer offer an exchange for bad globes. It looks like they may only offer a very limited warrenty and perhaps you will have to pay for shipping back to them for a fix and they will reship back to you prepaid. The most popular colors were the purple/yellows however the least was the blue/yellows at the time not many wanted that color. It would be great to see this last run as a wonderful run for the mighty Colossus.

The old stock vase were made in China. There first run like mine where made in Germany just like the Humongo was. Hopefully this last run will be a much better run for LL since they had many of them at the time arrive cloudy and after a while the lava began to stick to the vase as they started.

After time went on with the Colossus many returns were being called in and LL didnot know what to do. Even after I sent them pics of mine they said there was no fix for it and the cost would be mine to reship back to them.

I just ordered a new Colossus to go with my Humongo.  They say this will be the last run and the vases are from old stock.  The formula is made in USA at their new factory and each has been thoroughly tested I was assured.  The $700 includes shipping.

As for the cap...I recently drilled a hole in mine and mounted a smaller bulkhead screw cap. now I can easily filter the water or change the formula...done 3 different colors and salinity levels so far.

Just curios, why you dont like OG?

I remember the seals that kept dropping inside the bottles. Bohdan had to silicon a glass disc to the top.
