Have you ever seen this before -

So this the lamp is in rough shape and was going to be scrapped, won't clear up at all so I was going to take the coil out of it for another lamp.  So after flipping it over I noticed this odd looking blob on the coil, what is it?  Is that he reason for the foggy liquid?

Sometimes this is a sign of a coil going rusty or the top of the inner cap also going rusty. From what I can see its looks like this coil is going bad and not making full contact with the wax. On this globe before you toss it install another coil and run this globe and see what happens.

what would be the best place to go to for new springs?  As I started looking at my inventory I'm finding a couple of globes with this issue, that's making me a little nervous

Coils are a big issue with new to more and more older lamps. What I have done and still do if needed I will find new small lamps for sale like in shops called 5below or Target and buy a few around $5.00 each or a little more then I will run them and while they heat up set up a larger empty vase to make one LG 52z globe in that new color that will become. I now have 4 new coils and one Custom LR 52z globe. I once bought a few coils from Home depot and even Lowes however even though they said to be stainless they failed after a few months.
