A Place for Lava Lamp & Vintage Lights Fans All Over The World
So here's a #10 32oz globe that after about 3 hours after being turned on just sits on the bottom of the globe and stays there. Any idea or has anybody seen this symptom before?
The lamp has a clear light bulb in it now, it was also doing the same thing with a frosted bulb. There is a dimmer on it, I've tried turning the bulb down a little but it did not help at all.
Sorry, I don't know why the pictures are sitting on there sides

Whenever this happens after you start a run and the wax is hot its not sticking to the coil 100% of the time. If you place the globe on a flat surface and twist the globe the lamp may flow for a while again and then the same problem. The coil has started to fail and this problem can also be seen on some of the newer lamps from LL.
I appreciate the diagnosis , that's too bad, it is a good looking red globe too.
I think I will try to flip the coil over and see if that makes a difference at all.
crap, I didn't want to open the bottle and try to fish and swap out a coil.
Bohdan, you wouldn't happen to know the coil size for a replacement?
As for coils I will use coils that I have save over time from 32z to 52z and even 20z coils. Once I have the bad coil out I will compare to what I have and make it happen.
That's why I was asking, I actually don't have any spare coils to pick from. I'll have to start from scratch, I think I've got some narrowed down. The original coil appears to be 5 1/2 inches long, I just got to figure out the wire thickness.
I see LL used some kind of glue to keep the ends together which is exactly where I'm seeing the rust start to form.
