is it possible to just swap the liquid and wax straight from a broken Asto baby to a new bottle and have it run as normal ??, or is there something else i need to do to make it run properly.
i need a empty bottle to do this as well , so if someone has one and would part with it, I would like to buy it, Mathmos don't supply empty bottles any more.
and questions 2 is there a way to fix the cloudiness in a astro.
and questions 3 is there a way to make the wax rise and fall again , i seen where you can add a salt solution but i'm a bit weary of this with a Mathmos. has anyone done it
You will need to find another vase perhaps one that is bad within and then run it hot and dump it out. Once a Mathmos become cloudy there is no real solution to make it clear again if you filter it thru a ceramic pump the liquid will change and the wax may stick to the inside most of the time when a Mathmos becomes cloudy its due to age/wear. There are times when the Mathmos may have a problem with the coil or the liquid and the wax will just remain on the bottom adding salt solution will not help in the long run since there lamps are made different then the USA ones. If a hotter bulb does not work to start the flow then the Wax/Liquid has reached its life-span. Over the years I have done repairs to Mathmos lamps they are great clear lamps to own but have a unique formula that is always changing.
