Heritage Neon Grande Plus

Its been a long time since we have bought a Grande since the last 4 we had were Junk/Cloudy/non-running and over time were thrown away. Patti ordered for us the Neon green version to match our newly redone home. The lamp arrived a few hours ago and is now turned on. The vase is very clear and no smears or glass stars marks on it also the vase has 2 coils for a faster start and one very cool looking dimmer built into the back area. The base has a great Black finish with a nice looking LAVA logo on the front. The pin holes are different in there design unlike a Century would have yet looks nice. This just may be one the LL best Grandes yet so why has it taken so many years to reach this point?

The coils came from one of the original Grandes from many yrs ago. I have over the many yrs saved a few of the better coils from such lamps and also from LW USA 52z globes that I have used to make refills with. I added a second coil from a LW USA 52z globe they both fit great and the smaller 2nd coil is a bit wider then the one from the original neon grande this alone has changed the flow for better.

As for the heat shield. I used and old 32z USA base. I cut the base in half the cut up further so the 100w bulb could fit thru the hole. I then made the many slit cuts as needed going around the top of the base and bent them out in a straight line ring. This shield has made a huge difference as the heat is now contained inside. I also redid the inner socket bracket and made it back to factory as it came I found out that the closer the bulb is to the vase the MORE coil flips you will get. Well have been here for awhile and just been reading and admiring all the members beautiful lamps. Thanks so much for the info, will keep all this in mind, think I will have to be rebuilding a couple of Giants I have, as I am not happy with the flow.  Thanks again.

Something I have noticed with all your pictures; why do all the caps look to big for the globe? Yours looks like it is too wide, not fitting around the sides.

The vase on the Heritage is slightly smaller at the top it seems LLs vase provider has made the vase smaller at the top area then the older versions. I remember when the original Grande lamps had perfect fitting caps then over time even there caps became smaller or wider. LL is always looking for a cheaper way to make there lamps and in this case the vase was done so yet the glass is nice and clear.

For those looking to buy the Heritage Grande check out Overstock.com it seems LL has found a place to sell there overstock lamps including there other Heritage lamps that have become a very slow sell.

Well as time went on the Neon green wax in the Grande has started to loose its color and now the liquid has started to drop from with-in. 

I had to un-cap and added around 5oz of distilled water and then just added green food color to the liquid the lamp is running great and looks great as a green on green.

This is what the vase looks like after running for 15 hours the liquid is around 1/2" from the top as the vase is very hot so I have enough air space. With no air space a vase may crack and or have the liquid flow thru the cap.
