A Place for Lava Lamp & Vintage Lights Fans All Over The World
For the last 3 days I have been to 2 Target shops in my area buying a few of the Clearview lamps. As time went by I returned 3 lamps todate due to heavy cloudyness in the liquid. I have kept 2 of them since they were hard to find in the Yellow and Purple colors. Both are cloudy but not as bad as the others I had bought and these have no wax streaks all over the inner vase. Both are 32z models the Yellow is #4408 and the Purple is #4425. They use a 25w bulb in them since they may melt the upper plastic cup holder if 40w bulbs are being used. I have begun to run the 2 globes I have in sliver streak base with 40w bulb so they will hopefully clear up faster over time. The cost was yes Cheap $22.00 and they may have many returns on them very soon from the buying public. I will update this forum as time goes by.
From what I have seen so far it looks like the same formula from the Neons.
The vase on the center Silver Streak is an older China version from yrs ago. Perhaps they should return to this older Formula.

I picked up 2 more Clearviews for my review of them. I bought them like an average customer would picked up the one I wanted and went to the cashier to pay for it. Whenever I make a review its like I am just a shopper buying stuff. However whenever I buy one for myself I will check it.
I picked up the Red 32z version and the Clear Pink 12z version.
The Red Clearview is the best looking version out there However the 12z version is the worst lamp ever. It even betters the neons if that is possible. The 12z is cloudy non working most of the time and takes about 30 min for even one blob to flow then it will just sit for another 30 min to do it over again. After 2 hours it just sits there non working. They have really made it a piece of junk for all to buy. I took it back to Target for a refund and this time went to the Lava area and opened the other models to see. The red/yellow version was bad and a few of the Blue/White versions were also bad. I did come back with another Blue/White 12z that looked to be the best looking one and will do another test on this one later next week. I asked about the other Yellows in 32z that they had in stock and was told they were sent back and another shipment will be coming to them soon.
It looks like the 12z Clearviews will go the way of the 12z accents Discontinued shortly.
Took the Pink 12z Clearview back to Target and was going to get the Blue/White version to see how it would be. As I was doing the return the Clerk asked if it was going to do an exchange and I said yes. She then said I need to see if we have any left in stock since many have been returned as non working lamps. They did have only 1 Clearview in the Blue color so I took it home for my last review on this 12z model. This is one very cloudy model and I have begun to run it and to see what happens after a week. As it stands now LL should have not released the 12z Clearview as this lamp will give them such a bad name for Lava.
A problem with the Blue/White 12z Clearview. This one has so much white dye in it that it will never clear up. After 3 hours the lava just sits once more with a blob once in awhile. Most Target shops sell this model and only a few sell the 32z versions. It seems most of the lamps that will be sold to the consumer will be the 12z Clearviews that will make a statement to all about what Lava stands for from LL. THIS IS NOT GOOD.
And now for a real problem with the 12z Clearviews. As this Blue/White version was running I heard a slight crack and a strange smell. I turned it off to check it out. What I found was a slight crack in the plastic cup holder and the bulb had started to turn black. The bulb was still working however this 12z uses a non reflector 15w so most of the heat stays inside the base and the heat from the light makes this base extremely hot. I smell a big problem with this model perhaps even a fire time will tell.
A bigger problem now facing the Clearviews is they have released the 32z lamps but they have not released to Target the blister packs of the 25w E-12 grooved bb light bulbs. I can see many customers looking for the correct bulb and not finding any then while still under the warrenty from Target which is 90 days return such item as it just stopped working I would like a refund. Do you have another lamp as and exchange for me. LL should have had the replacement bulbs at Target to be sold right next to the lamps. Another bad move in there sales department.
I got luckey and bought quite a few from Spencers last year in the 30w line same bulb in height and sold for $2.99.
After running the Clearviews I noticed the Lava just sitting on the bottom of the vase after 4 hours. The lava was no longer attached to the coil completely. Seems this purple Clearview has a bad coil so to Target I will go for a refund and hopefully to see if they have anymore in this color.
Since the bulbs on the 12z Clearviews are junk non-reflectors the only way to make the vase hot enought is to use the bulb from the 32z Clearviews as a 25w. They are almost the same size in length and just about touch the vase. This way the bulbs light will be reflecting on the vase with its heat and unlike with the standard 15w it comes with will not be cooking the insides of the 12z base. This lamp like the larger 32z one needs a reflector for it to work if a customer does find a clear version. It looks like that if LL does not get there act together with the 12z Clearview Target will make it happen and have them pulled.
