Hi to ye all, this is my first post, I put some pictures of my lamps up, as well as my tunnel lights & some other lighting I have around our home. I was wondering about the Carramar lamps, does anyone have an idea of what year they might be? I have two red & one dark blue/purple. Also today I brought a lime green alien head lava lamp, rather rare I thing, will post some pic's when it get here, me carn't wait it looks really special.

Hi - I think the Carramar Volcano Lamps were made in the late 1990s and early 2000s at a time when lava lamps were in vogue again. I was a kid, and liked lava lamps. We got one from Target Rockingham and had it at my Nannie and Grandad's house in the living room. They were from England and said it reminded them of the 1960s when lava lamps were new and trendy. They said that 'Nannie Cook', my great-granmother had had one but they didn't know what happened to it. I guess that would have been an original Crestworth one. We liked the Carramar one but I think we just regarded it as an imitation and didn't really value it that much. It's only in the past week I randomly thought about it and wanted to see a picture. I googled 'Target Australia Lava Lamp 2000s' but had no luck. I found a picture by accident on Gumtree under a listing for 'lava lamp'. So, the Carramar lamps are not a genuine vintage item (from 1960s or 70s), they are from the late 1990s. Certainly a unique and beautiful design with some real classic appeal. I also remember it was heavy, as I have been reading again in some comments. I hope to have one again soon!

kind regards,

I love the Carramar lamps, they are like a Mathmos Astro meets a rocket. Such a clever idea and they were made in Australia.
