A Place for Lava Lamp & Vintage Lights Fans All Over The World
So today I finally did it. I didn't want to kill an old Giant, but it was getting so cloudy I had to. I got it off of eBay many years ago, and I think it had bad owners. Anyway, I was able to salvage all the parts minus the liquid and wax which I was going to throw away. I got it all washed and I saved the coil. with a little heat the rubber stretched just enough to slide off. I plan to glitter it with Five Below glitter. I think one of those lamps if, measured correctly, is 300ml. so I kept pouring 300ml of water at a time till it filled about where I wanted it and saved the amount for later reference. it will take just under 23 bottles. When I can save up $115 I will go and get me the refill bottles. I plan to post the pictures of the redo when it's done.

For the older goo kits 1 quart of Goo and around 4 oz of Surfactant as listed in there 2011 listings.

OMG! Looking through an old box of lava stuff I ran across at least a full bottle of goo base from Magma Tower with all the stuff needed for a refilling I think. I didn't think of it at first because I didn't think I had enough goo. Anyone do a Giant/Grande before? I have about 7oz of surfactant; 1 quart of virgin goo; 1/4 quart of orange goo; red, blue, green, and yellow dye. Should I go for it? I heard one bottle (1 quart) is enough to do one full Giant/Grande. How much of the surfactant will I need? I'm kinda excited cause that's $100 less I have to spend!
Thanks for the tip. I kinda figured that out when I was redoing an old consort. I'm hoping to have enough money and all of one color at the store at one time (I'll need 23 bottles). Yours looks orange. I have three colors to choose from; pink, yellow, and blue. I'm not sure what color to choose. I love yellow as a color but I think it might be too bright in a Giant size. I love my pink consort I redid but to be honest it's not a true pink, as due to them being out of pink, I had to get a yellow bottle to partly refill the left over space. Getting back to your post though, I think I put too much glitter in my consort. lol. What I might do is strain the glitter out as I pour in the liquid, then put it back in a little at a time till it looks good.
Looking good. Just remember the 5below glitter has alot of glitter inside so as you do a refill save a few bottles and just use the liquid. If you need extra glitter then you can add the saved glitter as needed. When I did my 52z refill with there glitter I used 3 bottles as is and then just used the liquid from the other 2 bottles.
