This sound more like LL China from the USA with its bottle seal cap and the top Aluminium cap sits on the cap and will move and shift around at times has this loose fit to it. This problem comes and goes even with our LW USA made globes. This was another reason I started to buy Mathmos replacement globes for the excellent colors and looks with there flat large screw on caps which hold the top caps straight on. After a while LW USA started to make there plastic top caps with an inner ring to sit and hold on to that small bottle cap seal and keep it from moving. Perhaps Mathmos will be doing so on here new Astro models once you buy the full lamp set "Base and Cap" with that inner guide ring to fit over the Aluminium screw cap.

blue-green/ruby ....anytime !

Here I go again...the top sits on the bottle cap not the bottle if you know what I mean and looks like a daft hat !

I must stop this and get back to my studies...not !

Don't be to alarmed guys, its flowing and glowing just the way we all know and love.

Me too Waggy! I'd like to see more of the vintage colours come back. Also something modern like Black Wax in a white base and cap Astro!

I think the thickness of the base is down to the moulding, the brand new lunar bottle I got a couple of years back had a thick base and was on a slant, many people said some bottles were tight in the bases where as others would just slot straight in !
Although the new cap looks aweful dint be put off by the base of it as you said it could just be a case of one slipping through the net, same with the liquid colour each batch is different and out of the new violet liquid bottles I've got the shade of it does differ.
Providing they never mess with the contents is all I care about tbh :)

Soon we may find out as to why they made this change over with the vase. Was it cheaper to make it so and use just one smaller cap but now the glass was done different and this was also costly or could they no longer have the wide mouth made for them and now this is what it will be.  Time will tell.

Edit... the exposed coil looks fine on contempery models, but please...not on our beloved Astrolamps.

I Concur...but the coil showing looks dreadful.

This glass vase had to be redone with a new mold . I wonder if they no longer will have the older globes from there suppliers and this was what had to happen. Also this vase may have been needed for the newer Smart Astros with its thicker bottom and they just made it like wise for the other Astros. Things will need to change now that they are going world wide and there sales will be up there which is a good thing for Mathmos.

Oh my gosh, i'm glad its not just me. I'm so dissapointed.

The glass at the base in the bottle is so thick you can see the coil above the base, and there is a lot of air bubbles and streaks in the glass, I just hope this is one that slipped through the net. I will contact Mathmos c/services monday

The formula and flow are perfect no worries there.

Richard... my heart sank when I saw the the colour of the liquid.

Bohdan...It just don't feel or lookl right.

Dont panic ! I will let you all know how it goes with cservices@mathmos.

I don't like the look of this new bottle at all, I can understand why they have made it like this so all the bottles use the same cap but why change something after 46 years ???

It doesn't look like an astro bottle now and the liquid looks really pale ?
