I have been meaning to show this image to Bohdan, as I am wondering why this was sold in the UK? Wonder if there was a store here? It is a quality USA lava lamp either way :)

The cheap tubes are there way of being cost effective as mention by them many times. Since there lamps are cheap so then there boxes are as well.

I so much preferred LL's boxed packaging rather than those nasty cheap tubes they do.

The globe has a really beautiful USA flow to it, that is really beautiful to watch.

Hi Bohdan, This is what really puzzles me, they are wired for the UK natively and they haven't been converted. They even have the UK price sticker on them. I believe that Spencer's had one store in the UK back then. I was so surprised to see this.

Were these wired for the UK at the time?

They go back to a time when you walked into a Spencers and there on one whole side of the wall were items like yours in Silver or Black in Swirls and other colors. You would pick the base with its inner cap and select a matching vase. In our Spencers they must have had over 80 globes in colors and perhaps 40 base combos. They sold quite a few back then when Lava was still USA owned. Lava started something new back them called Custom your lamp then buy take home and enjoy.
