Lockwood Lamp

This one is for you Anthony, at long last, but I think it's worth the wait :)

I had quite the score off gumtree this week (an aussie version of craigs list). I've had a copper looking lockwood lamp for nearly 10 years. The base and cap are pretty shabby, dinged and scratched, and the rubber base map is missing, but the bottle is a work of art. A stunning silver glitter bottle that has always been my absolute fave.

The other night I was working late, and for some reason looked up this lamp to see if any were for sale, and lo and behold, there were 2. This one with a pristine base and cap with rubber feet and a completely wrecked orange wax bottle (which will become a glitter bottle one day...) The guy who sold it was an absolute champion, he did the best wrapping job for shipping I've ever seen and got it to me in 2 days flat :)

So, here is the new base and cap with the magnificent glitter bottle! The pics don't really do it justice, but you get the idea. Not bad for $50!

Thanks Bohdan, it was an amazing score, I got lucky on this one!

I cleaned up the old one as best I could too and it's way better - couldn't quite get all the dings out though. Sure enough the bulb blew just as I finished and it was a dog to get out, but got there in the end. Looks like you can't get 40w small round bayonet bulbs here anymore so there's an interim measure 28/40w equivalent in it atm that's not quite hot enough, so it's light or no use for that one until the 40w incandescents I ordered from the UK turn up in a couple of weeks.

There's some great bottle combos if I fire them both up, and I have a spare bottle that needs refilling with one of Marcel's glitter kits one day :)

Cheers Claude, I was working late til 2am and for some reason looked to see if any were for sale for the 1st time in a decade, and couldn't believe that there were. So I fired off an email to the guy and was about to crash out for the night when he replied - he was working nightshift and gumtree-ing on the side haha. So it was an instant sale, he packed it like an absolute boss, best packing job I've ever seen I reckon, and posted it at lunch time and it arrived 2 days later. The bottle is totally cactus but I'll save it for a refill one day...
