Hi,

I am sorta new here, I would frequently read some of the information here but have never signed up until now.

I have kept LL's around since I was a kid in the 70's and have around twenty lamps of varying age.

I have some lamps from the 60's 70's-90's and even some of the newer Chinese stuff.  I even have a Humongo that I am going to rehab....it's kind of a mess.

The Humongo is one of the reasons I decided to join here.  I am curious to know if anyone here knows where I might be able to get a new base and cap for my Humongo.  I bought it used and it had no cap when I bought it.  But recently during a move the base became damaged and is really not repairable, thankfully the globe is fine.

Does anyone have any idea where to get a new or good used matching base and cap that could replace mine?

Thanks so much!

Try calling Lava Lite and ask them if they have a Base/cap to sell for the Colossus. They will be soon selling the Colossus thru there site since they still have a few left. Perhaps they have a silver base/cap to sell with no globe. I remember a while ago they did sell the base/cap for around $175.00 plus shipping.

Wow.  Really?  I thought they stopped making those a few years ago.  I will call them and see if they have those old parts still available.  Maybe I can email them....I have emailed their customer service before when getting defective lamps (Chinese of course).

Thanks for the quick feedback!  I am going to enjoy using this site more fully!

You have an original Humongo. They were made in the USA and the globe was German made as well. I remember them they sold at Spencers years ago on sale for $3,000.00 .

I bought this used from a guy who was a LL nut   He had modified the bottle contents prior to me getting it because he said he had trouble with the bottle seal and he re-sealed it with silicone. However, he called it a Humongo and said they don't make these any more.  I didn't care about all the specifics at the time because I loved the size of it and I wanted it, he wanted $600 but without the cap I talked him down further.  The base that got destroyed during a move had a label in it that said "humongo".  It always seemed to flow really well the glass bottle is really nice and it is very clear.  The base that was destroyed was the typical aluminum color.

The Humungos are amazing, they were also filled in the USA, like everything was in the good old days. The new stuff is made in China.
