Round Tables

This group will be about the round tables that I have made and hopefully with other members that will be making it so. I will start with the easy ones first like the Grande Table. Even though this one is bigger it will be easy to make since it will have an inner Stainless ring to hold the plex-glass. I will add other models as we go along.

Over time you may go crazy and start making larger Grande tables and then adding outer cover rings in chrome just for fun.

I have even made a few smaller sized Tables for the Grande.

Once polished fine the outer rim will glow and at night it will really shine out.

What the Grande will look like once done. You will need to take your time to make it so. A Grande table will take around 3 hours to make. You will need to take a few breaks as you go along and make sure you have eye protection on because the plexi will be flying in areas so do this out side on a nice day. Once you have done your first table the others will come easy.

Next would be the Plexiglass which again can be bought from Home Depot. Over time I started to use a thinner glass was easy to cut and worked great. The fun part is trying to find someone to cut the circle for you and even harder to make it so in GLASS it self. Again after I measured what I wanted I made the cut with the dremel disks and them with a ruff hand held file filed the outer rim down for a nice looking circle. I then did the same for the inner circle. Once done you will then use a fine sandpaper to file down both inner and outer rims till they are glass smooth. This will make the light shine thru it and light up as a full ring.

What the ring looks like after being cut and filed down smooth. I have done quite a few of these rings and have also sold a few on-line. However the fun would be in the making of such.

What the uncut ring looks like in the Grande base. I use this version for my larger Absolut vase which sits inside this ring with its outer edge as support.

What the ring looks like side by side.

The first to do is to find that Stainless steel ring at a Home depot. The location would be where the kitchen Items are. What you are looking for is this stove top ring which is 7 1/2" wide with its inner width at 5 6/8". They come as a 2 pack also. The inner collar will nedd to be cut using a Dremel with its cutting disks. Once cut the inside will have to be filed smooth as not to scratch the Vase. This is what the Colossus has for there table in larger form.
